The GASWT Agenda
Five things we're asking for
Not a mission statement — a working list of what GASWT wants institutions, governments and technology providers to actually change.
- 01
Ethical guardrails before deployment
Any AI tool used in a decision that affects someone's access to care, benefits or protection should pass an independent bias and ethics review before it's deployed — not after harm has already been done.
- 02
Digital access as part of the safety net
Devices, connectivity and digital literacy support should be treated as part of the social safety net itself, not an optional add-on layered on top of it after the fact.
- 03
Data privacy as a right, not a feature
Case files, health records and other data collected through social services need enforceable privacy protections — not voluntary vendor policies that can change without notice.
- 04
Fund the workforce, not just the software
Money spent adopting new technology in social services should include real training and capacity building for the practitioners using it, not just a software license.
- 05
Evidence before scale
New technology in social services should be piloted and evaluated first, with findings published — including the ones that didn't work — before it's rolled out widely.
